If you are a current RSC student:
Summer aid is awarded separately from fall and spring semesters. Awards are determined by the classes you are registered for and any aid you may have remaining from the academic year.
The RSC Financial Aid Office will review your eligibility for summer aid after you have enrolled. You do not need to contact the RSC Financial Aid of your enrollment. Our office uses an automatic system to identify your summer enrollment.
You should check your 2023 AID YEAR “TO DO” list and “MESSAGE CENTER” by logging into OASIS to ensure all items requested by the financial aid office have been completed. You will receive a Financial Aid Notification in your message center if you are eligible for summer financial aid.
Academic Progress
If you are currently on Financial Aid Warning, a Financial Aid Academic Plan or Financial Aid Probation for the spring 2023 semester, the RSC Financial Aid Office will determine your financial aid eligibility for summer 2023 aid after all spring grades have been posted by the RSC Admissions Office.
If you are a new or transfer student:
New students or students that are transferring from other institutions will be reviewed for summer aid after the RSC Financial Aid Office receives your 2022-2023 FAFSA application.
If you are a transfer student, you must submit all official academic transcripts to the RSC Admissions Office before your federal aid eligibility can be determined.
You should check your 2023 AID YEAR “TO DO” list and “MESSAGE CENTER” by logging into OASIS to ensure all items requested by the financial aid office have been completed. You will receive a Financial Aid Notification in your message center if you are eligible for summer financial aid.
Pell Grant
Some Pell Grant eligible students can receive up to 150% of their scheduled Pell award each year.
What does this mean for you? If you were a Pell eligible student in fall 2022 and/or spring 2023, you may qualify for a Pell Grant for summer 2023.
To be eligible for a summer Pell Grant, you must:
- Have completed a 2022-2023 FAFSA with RSC School Code
- Be Pell Grant eligible
- Enroll in summer classes. Enrollment in only the interim session does not qualify for any type of federal financial aid.
- *In some cases, there is a requirement to enroll at least half-time (6+ credits) to be eligible for a Pell Grant
- Be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress
- Have lifetime Pell Grant eligibility remaining
Check your Pell Lifetime Eligibility
You can check for your remaining Pell grant eligibility level online by logging on to studentaid.gov with your FSA ID.
- * Minimum Credits for Summer Pell Grant
- If you enrolled full-time (12+ credits) and received the full-time Pell Grant amount for fall 2022 and spring 2023, you must enroll at least half-time (6+ credits) in summer classes to receive a summer Pell Grant.
- If you enrolled half-time fall 2022 or spring 2023, you must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to receive a summer Pell Grant (unless more hours are required by your EFC).
An example of how Year-Round Pell (YRP) works
- A student with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $0 and enrolled as a full-time student, is eligible for 100% ($6,895) Pell grant for the year, or 50% ($3,448) for the fall semester and 50% ($3,447) for the spring semester.
- Under the YRP program, this student could receive an additional 50% ($3,448) for the summer semester if they enrolled full-time (12 credits).
- If the student enrolls half-time (six credits) summer semester, they would receive 25% ($1,724) Federal Pell Grant for summer.
Census Dates
- The census date for students enrolled in the summer 2023 first 4-week and 8-week sessions is June 12, 2023.
- The census date for students enrolled only in the summer 2023 second 4-week session is July 10, 2023.
- Any classes added after the census date are not eligible for additional Pell Grant funds.
Book Charges
- Tuition and Fees will be paid from your Pell Grant first and any remaining amount may be available as a book charge in the RSC Bookstore.
- Book charges are not available against student loan funds.
Summer Loans
- Many students use their full loan eligibility over the fall and spring semesters, leaving nothing available for summer. If possible, students should reserve some of their annual federal loan eligibility for the summer.
- You must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours that cover an 8-week period to be eligible for a student loan during the summer semester. If you are enrolled in two different summer sessions, your loan will be applied to your account when you begin attendance in at least 6 credit hours.

- ALL summer loans must be disbursed in TWO equal disbursements.
